Prep Time 2 minutes
Cook Time 5 minutes
Total Time 7 minutes
Serving Size 2 .5 Cups

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Whole milk
  • 1 Cup Heavy Cream
  • 1/2 Cup Maple syrup or sweetener of choice organic cane sugar works great here as well
  • 1 Tablespoon Vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Combine the ingredients

  • In a small, heavy bottomed sauce pan, mix the whole milk, heavy cream, and liquid sweetener (maple syrup) over low to medium heat.
  • Stir occasionally to combine, as well as preventing the milk and maple syrup from scorching on the bottom of the pan.

2. Add the Flavorings

  • Whisk in the vanilla extract until well combined.

3. Heat the Ingredients

  • Heat the mixture gently until the ingredients are hot, and well combined.
  • Do not allow the mixture to boil. This can cause a film to form on the top of the milk, which will affect the finished texture of your french vanilla coffee creamer.

4. Cool

  • Remove the mixture from the heat.
  • Allow the homemade French vanilla creamer to cool completely before storing, to avoid breaking your storage container.

5. Store the Homemade Creamer

  • Using a funnel, carefully pour the finished creamer into a storage container.
  • I recommend using glass, but, as I stated above, be sure to cool the homemade creamer completely before pouring it into the container.
  • Add an airtight lid and store your sealed jar in the refrigerator for up to one week.

6. Enjoy!

  • Now that you have finished your French vanilla coffee creamer, enjoy in your hot, morning cup of coffee.
  • Or, add the creamer over ice with your favorite cold brew to make a tasty, naturally sweetened iced latte!
  • For an extra fancy finish, steam your creamer, then froth it, for a coffee house experience in your own kitchen!

Notes

  • To use vanilla beans in place of vanilla extract, split one pod lengthwise before scraping out the seeds. Place the pod into the milk mixture while heating. After turning off the heat, allow the vanilla pod to steep in the hot creamer mixture until cool. Once cool, remove the pod for storage, and enjoy!
